“Walk Street” was created from my patio as an ode to a place I have very much come to love… there is nothing but good energy in this painting :) After completing this painting, I quickly began to realize that this perspective and composition of Manhattan Beach’s famous Walk Streets were going to become iconic within my Impression series.
This painting showcases all of my artistic skills to date… from the precise yet playfully expansive perspective; the use of powerful and beautiful colors (one of my real specialties); the abundance of intricate and fun details; and the intention and love of every thick, impasto oil paint brushstroke.
All of these elements combine together to create something I cannot put into words… the real magic of a painting. If you get the opportunity to see this painting in person, I highly recommend it. (staying local in Manhattan Beach) :)
Because every aspect of this painting was created with the same reverence, this painting is filled with all sorts of treasurable moments.

“Walk Street” took over 3 weeks of all-day creating to complete. The painting was painted in the traditional back-to-front/background-to-foreground method. The first energetic brushstrokes were of the clear blue sky, which set the rhythm/tempo, the final brushstroke was the highly impasto orange hanging off the bottom of the painting… the top of the fence that separates our home from our neighbors.
The very early stages of the painting showing the Sketch Layer and Light Layer in progress.
Interesting side note, the lamp posts act as a major perspective points when I am creating these paintings… they constantly move, shrink, grow throughout the early stages.
The final day creating “Walk Street”.
People often asked me what inspired the colors and I would respond, “I do not paint what I see, I paint what I Feel”
